4. Preston Squire

Squire is a 6-foot-11 forward out of Layton High School in Utah. He picked the Hokies over Manhattan, Louisiana-Monroe and Fairmont State. He’s got nice mobility and awareness as a stretch-forward and rim runner. He uses his length well to finish around the rim.

If he can develop in the weight room and show he can make an impact in the frontcourt, he could very well be a surprise in the class for Virginia Tech basketball. He averaged 13.2 ppg, 7.7 rpg, and 2.8 spg in his final season at Layton High.

3. Jalen Haynes

Haynes is a 3-star rated prospect out of the state of Florida. He’s a 6-foot-8 forward with an impressive knack for operating around the rim on both ends. He should add some size and depth in the Hokies frontcourt off the bench and improve the rebounding efforts.

Haynes averaged 20.2 points and 10.6 rebounds in a postgrad year at Montverde Academy this past season. He chose the Hokies over Boston College, Mississippi State, and a few others.

If his length can translate to the next level and he can make an impact on the boards, look for him to become a name to know in the rotation for Virginia Tech basketball.
