Now that the summer has concluded, college coaches around the country have shifted their focus towards recruiting the class of 2022. While Mark Adams hasn’t landed a commitment as of today, there are certainly signs of hope for Texas Tech Basketball as they’ve made several cut lists released by prospects and have secured multiple official visits.

Considering how many seniors the Red Raiders will lose next season, it will be vital for this staff to secure a few commitments to infuse their roster with young talent. Here are some of the prospects Texas Tech is currently in the mix for.

Brendan Hausen | 6’4″ Guard | Amarillo, TX

National rankings: 247 Sports #118, Rivals #39

Hausen had a chance to showcase his skills this summer playing for Team Griffin (Nike EYBL circuit team) and he did not disappoint. Not only did he see his national rankings skyrocket, but he also pulled in some impressive offers including Villanova, Oregon, and Virginia Tech. Hausen, a West Texas native, has been on Texas Tech’s radar for quite some time now. He’s unofficially visited the Texas Tech campus on multiple occasions and seems to have a pretty good relationship with the staff and some current players.

Put simply, Hausen is undoubtedly the #1 target for the Texas Tech staff in the class of 2022. With the recent report from On3 Recruits, It’s fair to say it could come down to Texas Tech, Villanova, Oklahoma, Nevada, and Arizona State.

Yohan Traore | 6’11” Forward/Center | France

National Rankings: 247 Sports #47, Rivals #4

Traore is without a doubt the highest-rated prospect on Texas Tech’s radar for the class of 2022. Rated as a 5-star prospect by Rivals, he could end up being the highest-ranked commitment Texas Tech has ever received should he decide to take his talents to West Texas. With Traore being a French national, it could benefit Texas Tech that they already have two players on their roster from France in Clarence Nadolny and Daniel Batcho.

Traore and Batcho actually played together on the 2020 U18 FIBA national team and seem to have a good relationship. Traore has not visited Texas Tech at this point but if the staff can get him on campus it should improve their chances. Texas Tech recently made Traore’s top-10 cut list posted to social media.
