Louisville Basketball: Analyzing Cardinals 2021 incoming recruiting class
6. El Ellis (JUCO)
Ellis is another prized JUCO recruit out of Tallahassee Community College. He’s a player with two years of eligibility left after showing off what he can do on the JUCO stage. He put up 17.7 ppg, 4.3 apg, 3.4 rpg and knocked down 41.7 percent (55-of-132) of his 3-pointers in 2020-21 as his squad went 19-3 on the season.
He’s a crafty 6-foot-3 guard that can get to the rim and finish with authority and has a ton of presence as a finisher around the rim as well. He’s got a chance to make the Cardinals really good with his range and athleticism on the floor.
5. Roosevelt Wheeler
Wheeler is a 6-foot-10 big man set to bolster the Cardinals frontcourt with his length and abilities. He won two state titles in three seasons at John Marshall High (VA). In 2019-20, he produced 15.8 ppg, 11.9 rpg, and 4.3 bpg as a junior as his squad with 23-2.
Despite not having a senior high school season, Wheeler should have fresh legs and be eager to show what he can do on both ends of the floor in the Louisville basketball rotation. He’s got solid mobility for his size and a bright future ahead of him as a top big man in ACC basketball.
