Point Guard

Storm Murphy reunites with Mike Young and Virginia Tech basketball as a coveted recruit out of the transfer portal after four seasons with Wofford. He’s a 6-foot guard that looks to lead the Hokies’ playmaking efforts with his addition to the roster.

He produced 17.8 ppg, 4.3 apg, 3.3 rpg, and 1.0 spg in 24 appearances, all starts, in 2020-21 for Wofford to earn All-SoCon honors for his efforts. He s With no Wabissa Bede though, they’ll need another ballhandler in the backcourt.

Hunter Cattoor and Sean Pedulla should take some of the heat off Murphy when need be. Cattoor was the “Sixth Man” so to speak for the Hokies in the backcourt, averaging 22.3 minutes per contest across 22 appearances.

Cattoor put up 8.5 ppg, 1.9 rpg, and 1.4 apg while shooting 43.3 percent from the 3-point line and 45.6 percent from the field in 2020-21. Look for him to gain more responsibility in 2021-22.

Pedulla is a member of the Hokies 2021 recruiting class that joins the squad after guiding his Edmond Memorial High squad to three state tournaments over the past four years. He possesses more size at 6-foot-1 and gives them another ball handler to work with in the backcourt that can also shoot it on the perimeter.
