Florida State basketball was one of the deepest teams in ACC basketball in 2020-21 and that shouldn’t change in 2021-22, though they’ll have some shifting to do in their frontcourt to find their identity as the center spot.

Leonard Hamilton and company had yet another NCAA Tournament run that ended in the Sweet 16 as they went 18-7 on the season and 11-4 in ACC action, good for second in the final standings. Now, they return with six newcomers looking to make a splash once again.

The Seminoles were the best offensive team in the ACC (77.2 ppg) and also had the best scoring bench (30.3 ppg) in 2020-21 and with they have returning and what they’ve added, they should have some of the same success, especially with the addition of five-star prospect Matthew Cleveland.

Cleveland is quite the playmaker, especially in transition and he has an opportunity to play a Scottie Barnes type of role for Florida State basketball.

Barnes averaged 10.4 ppg, 4.1 apg, 4.0 rpg, and 1.5 spg this past season and took home ACC basketball’s Sixth Man of the Year and Rookie of the Year award before being taken fourth overall in the 2021 NBA Draft by the Toronto Raptors.

Now, Cleveland enters with a lot more on the horizon with the lack of production returning. He’s one player that’ll need to step up for the Seminoles this year. Here’s a look at the projected starting lineup and depth chart for 2021-22.
