2. Malcolm Dread

Malcolm Dread is a product of the DMV powerhouse Gonzaga College High in Washington D.C. and head coach Steve Turner. He joins the Richmond basketball roster as the No. 1 recruit out of his state while possessing athleticism, length, and a developing offensive game.

He moves well without the ball to find his spots around the rim to finish over defenders. He runs the floor well on the wing and can finish with authority and has a nice shooting stroke on all three levels. With his size at 6-foot-4, he’s a prospect with the potential to play multiple spots for the Spiders. His brother, Myles, also plays for Penn State basketball.

1. Jason Nelson

Jason Nelson is a three-star point guard prospect that comes from a winning pedigree at John Marshall (VA), where he won a state title. He also won a state title as a freshman in 2018 at Varina High School.

In 2019-20, he was named the 2A State Player of the Year as his squad won a state title during his junior season. He averaged 17.3 ppg, 5.9 apg, and 3.8 rpg that year.

He’s a 5-foot-10 prospect with solid instincts operating off the bounce and finding others in space for points. He’s a prospect that should earn some minutes during his freshman season with his ability to finish around the rim.
