Illinois basketball lost Ayo Dosunmu to the NBA Draft and Adam Miller to the LSU Tigers, but they still return a slew of talent led by Kofi Cockburn, Andre Curbelo, and Trent Frazier. That doesn’t leave out room for their 2021 recruiting class to make their mark on the 2021-22 season, though.

Three of their top four scorers return from a season ago with Curbelo, Frazier, and Cockburn, after a brief stint in the transfer portal. With all eyes on their trio of stars for the Illini, there’s room for others to fall into roles of their own to fill the void.

Here’s a look at Illinois basketball’s 2021 recruiting class and their potential impact.

5. Luke Goode

Luke Goode is the first of three freshmen set to make a splash in the Illinois basketball rotation in 2021-22. He’s rated the No. 100 prospect in the 2021 recruiting class out of Homestead High in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where he had quite the prep career.

At 6-foot-7, he’s got the ability to affect the game in a variety of ways on the wing as a perimeter shooter, rebounder, and playmaker. He’s got the ability to score on all three levels and uses his length well to rebound when he’s on the floor as well.

He’s a prospect that had a 41-point, 10-3-pointer performance this past season for his Homestead squad. He’s a confident wingman with a knack for finding his spots to score the ball. Look for him to make his presence felt as a reserve in his first year on the roster.
