Point Guard

Brad Davison is the leading name to play the lead guard role for Wisconsin basketball in 2021-22. He returns after averaging 10.0 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 2.4 apg, and 1.1 spg through 31 starts this past season.

Being tasked with playmaking duties should take some pressure off him shooting the basketball this season. He shot a career-low 27.5 percent from behind the arc in the Covid-19 riddled season. Look for that to improve as he takes on a new role.

Jahcobi Neath is a new face that should battle for minutes with Davison. He spent the past two seasons at Wake Forest where he averaged 4.7 ppg, 2.0 apg, and 1.8 rpg through 50 appearances (9 starts).

There’s room for him in the mix at either guard spot but, for now, it’s probably the biggest question mark in the lineup for the Badgers. With seven players gone (6 seniors, 1 transfer) from a year ago, their identity could be decided on who plays the floor general position.

Chucky Hepburn is another name that should see minutes at the lead guard role. He’s a freshman member of the 2021 recruiting class out of Bellevue West in Nebraska. He’s shown the ability to be a facilitator at 6-foot-2 with a knack for winning games.

Don’t be surprised if Davison sees a lot of minutes at the point guard spot to appease minutes with Johnathan Davis. It’ll be interesting to see how things play out, for now, the early forecast points to Davison getting the early nod.
