Indiana Basketball: Projected starting lineup and depth chart for 2021-22 season
Guard/Wing
Parker Stewart, Trey Galloway, and Tamar Bates are three names that should battle for the 2-guard slot. Stewart has already played in the ACC and the OVC, so adjusting to Big Ten basketball shouldn’t be too difficult for him, though he didn’t play a game in 2020-21.
He appeared last in 2019-20 with UT-Martin basketball, making an impact in 25 games (24 starts) while averaging 19.2 ppg, 46. rpg and 3.8 apg on 34.8 percent shooting from behind the arc. With two seasons of eligibility left, he’s got room to grow in the Indiana basketball backcourt.
Galloway is a returning name from last year’s rotation looking to earn Coach Woodson’s trust. He appeared in 25 games (7 starts) in 2020-21 for the Hoosiers, posting 3.6 ppg, 1.9 rpg, and 1.6 apg as a reserve off the bench. His role could potentially grow with a more up-tempo squad on the horizon.
Bates is a prized recruit in the 2021 recruiting class for Indiana basketball that was ranked 30th in the nation. With a lot of fanfare and potential around him, he’s set to make a splash in the lineup as a reserve and a starter down the od.
In the end, look for Stewart to carry the badge as the proverbial starter when it’s all said and done given his ability to knock down shots which he’s proven capable of in the past.
