Head coach Tom Crean and Georgia basketball put together a 10th place finish in SEC basketball in 2020-21, after going 7-11 in conference play and finished 14-12 overall on the season. At just two wins over .500, the potential for experience to grow into something more doesn’t even get a chance, as roster turnover struck the Bulldogs hard in the offseason.

Sahvir Wheeler joined the Kentucky Wildcats and K.D. Johnson joined the Auburn Tigers in the SEC basketball, which should make for some interesting storylines when conference play is in full swing in January.

Georgia basketball returns just one starter and a total of five players from last year’s roster and will welcome 10 newcomers to the rotation in 2021-22. While the transfer portal saw a healthy amount of departures, six additions out of the transfer portal will grace the Bulldogs’ sideline this year.

Georgia native Braelen Bridges (UIC), Jabri Abdur-Rahim (Virginia),  and Aaron Cook (Gonzaga) are a few of the headline names of their 2021 recruiting class that will have a lot of adjusting to do on the fly. JUCO wing prospect Dalen Ridgnal is another intriguing name to keep an eye on out of Cowley College in Kansas.

While fans should have some fun getting to know some new names, it could be another season of growing pains in Year 4 under Crean. Here’s an early season preview for Georgia basketball heading into the 2021-22 campaign.
