Georgia Basketball: 2021-22 season preview and outlook for Bulldogs
2021-22 season outlook
Year 3 was a mixed bag for Georgia basketball as they finished 14-12 on the year. While they went 7-11 in conference play, they managed to go 7-1 in non-conference action with a batch of new faces to adjust to. That squad turned in the best record (.538) under Crean so far in his three-year tenure, but this year’s non-conference slate has a lot tougher opponents on it.
Year 4 features a whole lot more adversity for Crean to adjust to with 10 newcomers and just five returners on the roster heading into a new season. While the top of SEC basketball got better and filled needs, the Bulldogs had to revamp altogether.
The full offseason helps to build the team chemistry but this season could be a tough road ahead for Crean, who’s compiled a record of 41-49 (.459) through his first three seasons on the sidelines in Athens.
Crean could start to feel his seat heat up a bit if things don’t turn a corner, even with rebuilding the rotation on the preseason agenda. With a lot of question marks heading into the season, the Bulldogs could find themselves back at the bottom of the SEC basketball standings once again in 2021-22.
