Forward
Lat Mayen is set to start at the forward role after starting in all 27 games this past season for Nebraska basketball. He produced 8.6 ppg and 4.5 rpg in 25.6 minutes of action in his first year in the rotation. In Year 2, look for him to turn a corner in the production department.
He’ll stretch the floor with his ability to knock down the 3-ball and make plays from the perimeter as the stretch-forward spot in the lineup. He was one of the team’s best shooting big men in 2020-21, shooting 34.8 percent from behind the arc in 2020-21.
Wilhelm Breidenbach is another freshman name set to make a splash in the lineup. He’s a 6-foot-10 mobile forward out of Mater Dei (CA) that averaged 15.5 ppg, 7.0 rpg, and 2.8 apg before being sidelined with an injury.
He chose Nebraska over Marquette, Michigan, California, and Utah. There’s room for him to play heavy minutes in Hoiberg’s system with his ability to make plays, rebound, and operate inside and out.
After Mayen and Breidenbach, Keon Edwards and Trevor Lakes are two names with the potential to play a role at the third forward spot. Edwards with his athleticism and Lakes with his experience as a senior returner.
