Forward/Center

Derrick Walker returns in the frontcourt to give Nebraska basketball a strong frontcourt presence. Don’t be surprised if he’s in the running for Big Ten basketball’s Most Improved Player award by the season’s end with his upside.

Walker was inserted into the rotation this past season in January and never looked back, putting up 5.9 ppg, 4.8 rpg and 1.6 apg through 16 starts. With a full offseason under his belt and the departure of Yvon Ouedraogo, his production and minutes should increase in 2021-22.

Oleg Kojenets is another mobile big man out of their 2021 recruiting class that could see time at the 4-spot. He’s a 7-footer with promise as a rebounder and rim protector out of Lithuania with international experience on the FIBA stage. He chose Nebraska over Saint Mary’s, Georgia Tech and Seton Hall.

Eduardo Andre is another big man returning in the Nebraska basketball rotation. He showed promise this past season as a reserve that appeared in 20 games in 2020-21. He put up 2.7 ppg and 2.2 rpg in 8.8 minutes of action and returns looking to do more with a bigger role as a presence in the paint on both ends of the floor.

There’s plenty of depth for the Cornhuskers to work with at each position. That’s for sure which should allow them to have a much better result than the 2020-21 season.
