2021-22 season outlook

NC State basketball has a shot at getting back to a sense of normalcy in 2021-22, which is a good thing for them. Their issues haven’t been on the non-conference side of things. The team went 5-3 this past season and 10-2 in 2019-20 before things were shut down due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

With both talent and experience on the horizon in 2021-22, it’s hard to project the Wolfpack finishing below the middle of the pack in the ACC basketball landscape, but they’ll need for their rotation to produce and win games.

In 2020-21, NC State basketball ranked fourth in the conference in field goal percentage (47.1 percent) and 3-point field goal percentage (36 percent). Manny Bates and Jericole Hellems will look to lead the offensive attack in a similar fashion, with Bates roaming the rim and Hellems roaming the perimeter.

They’ll need Cam Hayes and Dereon Seabron to find their footing and their newcomers to find their roles to find success. If they can find their role in a hurry, Coach Keatts and company could find themselves back where they were before Covid-19 derailed their climb back to NCAA Tournament relevance. If not, Year 4 could be more running in place for NC State basketball and Coach Keatts.
