Stanford Basketball: 2021-22 season preview and outlook for Cardinal
2021-22 season outlook
Stanford basketball will have their hands full with a few Top 25 squads on their non-conference slate. If they can keep things close or even pull off an upset or two, they could have quite the record heading into a pivotal month of January.
There won’t be room for much error but with a ton of talent to work with Coach Haase has an opportunity to put together quite the 2021-22 campaign.
Stanford basketball lost their last five games and eight of their last 12 contests of the 2020-21 season to close out the year. With experience left and roles to fill, they’ll surely be a competitive bunch, but it could be NCAA Tournament or bust for Coach Haase and company. Stanford hasn’t made an appearance in the Big Dance since 2014.
Haase will need to have the Cardinal ready for their non-conference slate of games and there will need to be some carryover as well. Harrison Ingram and Isa Silva are certainly a good start for the direction they want to go, they’ll just need to prove themselves right away.
Ingram and Silva are the leading names with “one-and-done” potential, following in the footsteps of Ziaire Williams, who was drafted 10th overall in the 2021 NBA Draft by the Memphis Grizzlies after averaging 10.7 ppg, 4.6 rpg, and 2.2 apg in his lone season of college basketball.
Now, the Cardinal will look to reload and pair their additions with a lot of returning names looking to prove themselves, or it could be an early exit for Coach Haase.
