Projected starting lineup

Point Guard – Dante Harris, Soph.

Dante Harris returns at the lead guard spot after quite the finale to his debut season with Georgetown basketball. He peaked at the right time in 2020-21 with the Hoyas, showing off his prowess as a scorer and playmaker. He’ll need to improve his efficiency in 2021-22, but with other weapons to work with, he’ll look to be the same lead guard.

Harris will look to pick up where he left off after taking home the Big East Tournament MVP award in 2021. He posted 10 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and a steal in their victory over Creighton.

Guard – Donald Carey, Senior

Donald Carey is another returner in the Hoyas backcourt set to make his presence felt once again in 2021-22. He returns as the team’s best sharpshooter on the perimeter after shooting 44.9 percent in the backcourt this past season.

Across 26 games (20 starts), Carey put up 8.0 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 1.7 apg, and 1.0 spg while also shooting 46.7 percent from the floor. With a bigger role on the horizon for him, he’ll look to grow his game in the final year of his college career.

Wing/Forward – Aminu Mohammed, Frosh.

Aminu Mohammed is set to make an impact right away in the Georgetown basketball lineup fresh out of high school. He’s a 6-foot-5 prospect with a strong frame and nice aggression off the bounce to go along with a high IQ and long wingspan.

Mohammed averaged 23.3 ppg, 10.0 rpg, 3.1 apg, and 2.7 apg in his final season as a prep prospect at Greenwood Laboratory School, taking home the Missouri Gatorade Player of the Year award in his wake. He’ll be a name that should become a fan favorite when the season opens.

Forward – Tre King, Junior

Tre King joins the rotation after spending three seasons in the OVC at Eastern Kentucky. He put up 14.9 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 1.5 spg, and 1.2 bpg in 2020-21, including 25 points, 13 rebounds, four steals, and a block in an overtime loss to Xavier.

He’s a big man prospect with experience already against Power 5 competition. He’ll look to carry that and his ability to stretch the floor with his 3-point shot to the Georgetown basketball frontcourt.

Center – Timothy Ighoefe, Junior

Timothy Ighoefe is the most experienced big man returning in the Hoyas rotation. He made 24 appearances (1 start) for 9.1 mpg, posting 2.5 ppg and 3.2 rpg in 2020-21. He’s a 7-footer with size and potential to make his presence felt down low. He’ll have a chance to prove himself in 2021-22 as a starter in the lineup.
