Florida State Basketball: 2021-22 season preview and outlook for Seminoles

Schedule outlook

Florida State basketball opens the season against Penn (Nov. 10) before their annual early rivalry matchup in Gainsville against Florida (Nov. 14). The Seminoles won last year’s meeting 83-71 and have won the last seven matchups.

After that, they’ll host Tulane (Nov. 17) before the Jacksonville Classic pits them against Loyola Marymount (Nov. 21). They’ll face SMU/Missouri on Nov. 22 depending result and then face Boston (Nov. 24).

The ACC/Big Ten Challenge is next up on the slate with a big matchup against Purdue on Nov. 30. It’s only the fifth meeting between the teams with Florida State basketball owning the matchup 4-0. The two team’s last met on November 30, 2019.

The month of December opens with an ACC matchup against Syracuse (Dec. 4) before returning to the non-conference schedule with South Carolina on Dec. 12. In the final three non-conference games, Lipscomb (Dec. 15) at home, UCF in a neutral site Orange Bowl Classic (Dec. 18), and North Florida (Dec. 21) at home.

The Seminoles begin the bulk of their ACC basketball slate with Boston College (Dec. 29), NC State (Jan. 1), and Wake Forest (Jan. 4) all on the road, which should be a good early test for their experience and depth.

They’ll return home on Jan. 8 against Louisville followed by Miami on Jan. 11 before hitting the road again to face Syracuse on Jan. 15. They’ll host Duke at home on Jan. 18 before hitting the road against on Jan. 22 to face Miami and Georgia Tech on Jan. 26.

The month of February will begin on the road against Clemson on Feb. 2 followed by two home games against Wake Forest on Feb. 5 and Pittsburgh on Feb. 9.

They’ll head to Chapel Hill to face UNC on Feb. 12 then host Clemson on Feb. 15 before heading back to Cameron Indoor to face Duke in Durham on Feb. 19.

Florida State basketball will play their last road game against UVA on Feb. 26 before their final two home games in ACC basketball action against Notre Dame (March 2) and NC State (March 5). The conference tournament runs March 8-12.
