Schedule outlook
A trio of home games will open the 2021-22 schedule for Louisville basketball with Southern (Nov. 9) to open things up followed by Furman (Nov. 12) and Navy (Nov. 15). They’ll participate in the Baha Mar Hoops Bahamas Championship from Nov. 20-27 beginning with Detroit-Mercy to open things up.
They’ll face Mississippi State in their second game on Nov. 25 then face Maryland/Richmond on Nov. 27 to close things out. They’ll return to the States with the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on the schedule on Dec. 1 with a road game against Michigan State.
It will be the 12th time they’ll meet and the third time they’ll meet as part of the challenge. The Cardinals won their last meeting in 2018’s ACC/Big Ten Challenge, 82-78 in overtime. This year’s meeting should be equally as thrilling.
Louisville basketball will face NC State (Dec. 4) in an early ACC basketball matchup on the road before the final four non-conference games on the slate. They return home on Dec. 10 to face DePaul then host SE Louisiana on Dec. 14 before their final two road non-conference games.
Western Kentucky (Dec. 18) and Kentucky (Dec. 22) will both be tough road meetings for the Cardinals, with their annual rivalry meeting coming with the Wildcats after a 62-59 victory in 2020-21.
Wake Forest (Dec. 29) at home will kick off the bulk of the ACC basketball slate, followed by Georgia Tech (Jan. 1) on the road. Pittsburgh (Jan. 5) will come next at home before they go back on the road to face Florida State on Jan. 8.
They’ll face NC State again, this time at home on Jan. 12 then travel to Pittsburgh on Jan. 15. Two homes against Boston College (Jan. 19) and Notre Dame (Jan. 22) before a road meeting against UVA on Jan. 24.
Louisville basketball will need to be super-focused for the next two, with Duke (Jan. 29) and UNC (Jan. 31) both at home to close out January.
Two road games will follow against Syracuse (Feb. 5) and Notre Dame (Feb. 9) to open the month of February, then two home games against Miami (Feb. 16) and Clemson (Feb. 19).
Three of the final four conference games will come on the road. UNC (Feb. 21), Wake Forest (Feb. 26) and Virginia Tech (March 1) will all come on the road followed by the final home regular-season conference game against UVA on March 5.
The ACC Tournament will begin on March 8 and run until March 12 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
