Whose seat is warmer, Jamie Dixon or Bruce Weber?
Caleb Hightower wrote a fantastic piece on his stance of the pressure in Fort Worth and I believe Dixon is the one with the warmer seat.
Even if the history has shown TCU is not a program that sees success, Dixon has proven success in the past and has struggled to duplicate that with the Horned Frogs.
There is a ton of talent in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and that talent continually chooses Kansas, Texas, Texas Tech, and Baylor before wanting to stay home.
This might be Dixon’s best team on paper but is unclear if that is going to carry over into wins. Mike Miles was the clear superstar of last year’s team and he got some help during the off-season with Texas Tech transfer Micah Peavy and UT-Arlington’s Shahada Wells.
However, I’m unsure if those two will have a big enough impact to turn TCU into a middle-of-the-road team in the Big 12.
Even with the Wildcats having a poor season in 2020-2021, Weber’s team finished the season strong, winning three of four, including two victories against Dixon’s Horned Frogs until a six-point loss to the eventual National Champions, Baylor.
Guard Nijel Pack and center Davion Bradford had excellent freshman seasons and are expected to continue their development this year. Guard Mike McGuirl comes back for his COVID year and a once young group gets a year older and a year better.
Due to knowing what Kansas State is going to look like and Weber’s track record, I have more trust in Weber leading the charge in Manhattan than Dixon in Fort Worth.
