First-year head coach Mike Woodson takes over an Indiana basketball program looking to turn their fortune. He’s the first former player of legendary head coach Bobby Knight to take over on the sidelines and looks to get the Hoosiers to their first NCAA Tournament since 2016.

It didn’t take Woodson long to win over public opinion of the Indiana basketball fanbase, getting five players to return from the transfer portal while adding four new faces out of the transfer portal. One of the returners includes Trayce Jackson-Davis, one of the top prospects in this year’s NBA Draft.

Jackson-Davis holds Big Ten Player of the Year potential given what he can do on the floor. As he improves his floor game and free-throw shooting percentage, he’ll be one to keep an eye on in this lineup as they look to turn a corner.

Xavier Johnson (Pittsburgh), Miller Kopp (Northwester), Michael Durr (USF), and Parker Stewart (UT-Martin) will look to add some experience on multiple fronts for the Hoosiers as well. With seven newcomers and nine returners, Woodson has a nice mix of old and new to work with as he looks to employ his uptempo style of play

With former Panthers guard Xavier Johnson leading the charge, he’s certainly got the right guard in position to get things going. This should be an intriguing squad to watch as the 2021-22 season progresses. Here’s an early preview and season outlook for Indiana basketball.
