LSU basketball will be in rebuilding mode in 2021-22 which could mean some growing pains are ahead for head coach Will Wade and company in the SEC basketball landscape. After going 19-10 in 2020-21 and making it to the Round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament, the Tigers should have a completely different identity this year.
The Tigers have already suffered one huge blow to this year’s squad, losing Illinois transfer Adam Miller for the season to a torn ACL injury. On top of that, the Tigers will have to replace their top three scorers from a season ago in Javonte Smart, Cam Thomas, and Trendon Watford.
With just two players with starting experience back and six total returners, LSU basketball will be in search of a new identity and chemistry in 2021-22. Darius Days is the headlining name that returns to the lineup after testing the NBA Draft waters but he’ll have a variety of new talent alongside him in 2021-22.
Eight newcomers will round out the rest of the lineup with transfers Tari Eason (Cincinnati) and Xavier Pinson (Missouri) adding some experience to this year’s group for the Tigers. Take a look at the 2021-22 season preview and outlook for LSU basketball with another season right around the corner.
