Michigan State Basketball must have better on-court chemistry than Kansas

It may sound like an old saying but if Michigan State can demonstrate the ability to play better with one another in comparison to a Kansas team with transfers and six freshmen, the Spartans have a chance to pull off the upset.

Yes, Kansas has two proven seniors in David McCormack and Lightfoot and they also have seven seniors on their roster. However, this Michigan State team with Brown, Joey Hauser, Bingham, Hall, and Julius Marble have been together for three full plus years now. Izzo even said that this year’s team fits his style better and Walker the only transfer looked to fit in well in the Spartans two exhibition games.

The Jayhawks have upperclassmen in Christian Braun who may start at the three, McCormack who will start at center and Agbaji who may start or be the first Kansas player off the bench. However, Kansas brought in a talented freshmen class ranked No. 11 nationally and they brought in four transfers.

That is eight new players with at least six of them will see significant time against the Spartans in the opener. Now if this game was played in December, Kansas more than likely may when this game easily by double digits. Michigan State may have lucked out playing the Jayhawks this early in the season.

If Michigan State doesn’t turn the ball over more than Kansas and the Spartans are able to operate their offense and fast break as a collective, experienced, and well-oiled unit, then maybe the on-court chemistry of Michigan State can pull off the upset as they did back in 2012.
