It’s time for some Bracketology with the NCAA Tournament just a few weeks away. Let’s take an early look at a projected field of 68.

South Region (San Antonio, TX)

(1) Auburn vs. (16) App State
(8) Alabama vs. (9) Miami
(4) Wake Forest vs. (13) Colgate
(5) Houston vs. (12) Chattanooga
(6) Arkansas vs. (11) Xavier
(3) Baylor vs. (14) New Orleans
(7) TCU vs. (10) North Texas
(2) Kentucky vs. (15) UNC-Wilmington

Auburn basketball headlines the South Region (for now) but lurking at the No. 2 seed are the Kentucky Wildcats. The Wildcats have won five in a row with Florida on the schedule Saturday. They’ll square off against Tennessee on the road on Tuesday night.

Wake Forest basketball is the ACC’s hottest team at 10-4 in conference action and riding a three-game winning streak. They’re only 1-3 against Q1 programs but 5-2 against Q2 programs and 14-0 against the other two quadrants. They’ll look to tip the scales with a meeting against Miami on Saturday afternoon.

Houston basketball was hovering in the 2-4 seed range before Wednesday night’s loss to SMU. They’re still in good shape for some movement though at 9-1 in the AAC basketball standings and with the potential to lock up the conference’s automatic bid.

An Alabama vs. Miami basketball potential matchup holds a ton of intrigue when it comes to predicting an NCAA Tournament bracket. Though, both could move either way depending on how they finish up the season. Arkansas vs. Xavier at the 6/11 game could be a potential bracket buster as well, but Xavier will need to secure a win on Friday night against UConn basketball.
