As the college basketball season rolls on and the NCAA Tournament looms, the projected field continues to work itself out. Here’s the latest Bracketology breakdown of where teams stand if the tournament were to begin today.

South Region

(1) Auburn vs. (16) App. State
(8) Wake Forest  vs. (9) Davidson
(4) Alabama vs. (13) New Orleans
(5)  Houston vs. (12) Colgate
(6) Arkansas vs. (11) Xavier
(3) Baylor vs. (14) North Texas
(7) TCU vs. (10) Miami
(2) Kentucky vs. (15) Towson

Towson is the newest entrant into the NCAA Tournament field after beating UNC-Wilmington on the road on Thursday night, in convincing fashion. Alabama continues to move up after a victory over Mississippi State on Wednesday as a No. 4 seed out of the SEC.

The Miami Hurricanes are the biggest team to keep an eye on in this region as a No. 10 seed as they’re 11-4 in ACC play and riding a three-game winning streak into a weekend meeting with the Virginia Cavaliers.

Baylor took a loss to Texas Tech on Wednesday night but it shouldn’t hurt their status, for now. At second place in the Big 12 standings, they’re still in good shape.

Team to Watch: Xavier

The Xavier Musketeers have been slumping in the month of February and as a projected No. 11 seed, they’ll need to turn things around in a hurry. They’ve lost three of their last four games as they’ve got UConn on Saturday and Providence on the road next Wednesday.
