2. Continue to slow down Caleb Grill

The Cyclones have saved the best for last as they’ve found a new hero in each game to save the day for them as one of the remaining double-digit seeds left in the field. In the first round, it was freshman guard Tyrese Hunter who saved the day with 23 points to the tune of seven 3-pointers, to defeat the No. 6 seed LSU Tigers. In their upset over No. 3 seed Wisconsin, it was 22 points from 6-foot-7 slasher Gabe Kalscheur that set the tone in the end.

While those two will certainly be two names that will come up on the scouting report, keeping Caleb Grill in check should ultimately help the Hurricanes get a victory in the end. While he hasn’t been impressive, Grill is averaging just 6.5 ppg and 3.5 fouls per contest through the Cyclones’ first two games in the NCAA Tournament.

He’s shot just 27.8 percent from the field and 21.4 percent from 3-point land in Iowa State’s first two victories after shooting 38.1 percent from the field and 32.1 percent from 3-point range during the conference regular season.

With a heavy guard presence, the Hurricanes certainly have the capabilities to keep Grill in check with their length and ability to attack the paint. Miami has a strong trio that will test the Iowa State backcourt.
