Big Ten Basketball: Top impact transfer for each team for 2022-23 season
Max Klesmit, 6’3 Guard, Wisconsin Badgers
The Wisconsin Badgers found themselves at the top of the Big Ten at the end of the regular season and they made their third appearance in the last four years under head coach Greg Gard.
Their top two scorers are gone from a season ago in Johnny Davis and Brad Davison, but they answered a question that many outsiders asked: “Can both of them co-exist in the backcourt?” They did that and then some, finishing as Big Ten Regular Season Champions at 15-5 in conference action.
Now, head coach Greg Gard has looked to the transfer portal to acquire former Wofford guard Max Klesmit to look to continue their success from a season ago. Klesmit was a third-team All-SoCon selection after averaging 14.9 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 1.9 apg, and 1.6 spg in 2021-22, finishing fifth in the conference in steals (50) and eighth in points per game.

Klesmit knocked down a career-high 68 3-pointers this past season on 34 percent shooting with an increased role with the Terriers. With the competition level increasing in the Big Ten, he could see an uptick in his career-best, if things go well.
Wisconsin is also adding Kamari McGee (Green Bay), which presents another potential backcourt duo that could find success this upcoming season.
