Jahmir Young, 6’2 Point Guard, Maryland Terrapins

Jahmir Young makes a return to his home state of Maryland as he joins the Maryland Terrapins with two years of eligibility under his belt and a lot more to prove after making a name for himself with the Charlotte 49ers in Conference USA.

Young earned first-team All-Conference USA honors this past season after producing 19.6 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 3.7 apg and 1.1 spg at the floor general spot. His pairing with Donald Carey, another transfer portal acquisition for the Terrapins, is something that’s got the Kevin Willard era off to a good start already heading into 2022-23.

The former Conference USA Rookie of the Year (2019-20) ranked third in the conference in scoring and free throws made (132) and ninth in assists per game in 2021-22 as one of the top point guards in this year’s transfer portal class. His addition to the Maryland rotation should fill a massive void left by the departures of Fatts Rusell and Eric Ayala.

He’s a floor general that plays with a chip on his shoulder and is just the first former DeMatha High School product to play in College Park since 2006. Hopefully, his presence with the Terrapins changes that trend after being underrecruited out of high school.
