ACC Basketball: Top transfer addition for each team for 2022-23 season
Jacob Grandison, 6-foot-6 Guard/Wing, Duke Blue Devils
The Duke Blue Devils are Jacob Grandison’s third stop in his collegiate career as he’ll join their rotation as a graduate transfer in 2022-23. With a backcourt logjam brewing with Illinois, it was only right that Grandison used his extra year elsewhere, where he’ll kick off the John Scheyer era with Duke. It helps he’s quite the 3-point marksman himself.
Across 60 appearances for the Fighting Illini, Grandison started in 39 games, including 23 in 2021-22. He’ll add a veteran presence to their backcourt and add to their 3-point efficiency. The 6-foot-6 guard shot 41 percent from behind the arc this past season while averaging 9.6 ppg, 3.8 rpg and 2.3 apg on a Big Ten roster.
The Blue Devils will be in their first year under new head coach John Scheyer and they’ll have a ton of new faces to get used to in 2022-23. With just two returners from last year’s roster and three new faces out of the portal including Grandison’s, he’ll have to adjust in a hurry and show he can play defense to make an impact in the rotation.
He generated a defensive rating of just 103.0 in If he can adjust and show his 6-foot-6, 205-pound frame can do more than just shoot the 3-ball, look for his addition to be a success for the Blue Devils.
