Pete Nance, 6’10 Forward/Center, North Carolina Tar Heels

The North Carolina Tar Heels will be nothing short on talent in 2022-23 with the return of Armando Bacot, Caleb Love, R.J. Davis and Leaky Black and they even found a diamond out of the transfer portal with the acquisition of Pete Nance from Northwestern.

Nance was arguably the Wildcats’ best player, producing 14.6 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 2.7 apg and 1.1 bpg in 2021-22, while shooting 45.2 percent from 3-point land and 49.7 percent from the field. After putting up career numbers in the Big Ten, he’ll have an opportunity to play a big role on an ACC team that should be a favorite for the National Championship.

The Northwestern import will look to fill the void left by the departure of Brady Manek to the NBA. Manek and Nance have similar games in that they can stretch the floor as 3-point shooters while still maintaining a presence on the inside, though, Nance may have more of an edge as an interior defender.

Nance gives the Tar Heels quite the wildcard in their 2022 recruiting class as they’ve also added top-rated prospects Jalen Washington, Seth Trimble and Tyler Nickel. Adding a veteran with Power 5 experience like Nance should give UNC quite the depth this upcoming season.
