Souley Boum, 6’3 Point Guard, Xavier Musketeers

Souley Boum is the final impact player to know as the lone addition out of the portal with the Xavier Musketeers. Boum poured in 19.8 ppg to finish second in Conference USA this past season with the UTEP Minters this past season. With just four departures from last year’s roster, head coach Sean Miller has plenty to work with in Boum, Jack Nunge, Colby Jones, Zach Freemantle, and Adam Kunkel all returning in 2022-23.

Xavier will be Boum’s third and final stop after spending time at San Francisco from 2017-18 then sat out the 2018-19 season per transfer rules. In his time with UTEP from 2019-22, he put up 16.9 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 2.5 apg, and 1.3 spg across 86 games (74 starts) while manning the point guard role.

In his best performance last season, he racked up 28 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, and three steals against Louisiana Tech back on Feb. 17. He shot 9-of-20 from the field while going 8-of-17 from inside the arc, showing his prowess as a downhill threat with the ball in his hands.

He’s a shifty presence that put up career-highs in points (19.8 ppg), rebounds (4.5 rpg), and assists (2.5 apg) while shooting 36.8 percent from 3-point land and 40.9 percent from the field. He’ll look to lead the way in the playmaking department in the Musketeer’s backcourt this upcoming season.
