Caleb Murphy, 6’4 Guard, DePaul Blue Demons

Caleb Murphy is one of two names from the transfer portal to keep an eye on out of the transfer portal. He’s a 6-foot-4 prospect that’s shown some promise as a combo guard in the backcourt.

The Blue Demons took a huge loss to the transfer portal, seeing David Jones join conference-foe St. John’s this past offseason, so gaining Murphy isn’t such a tough consolation prize. He’ll join DePaul after spending the past two seasons with the South Florida Bulls.

His production was up on all fronts as he averaged 11.4 ppg, 3.4 apg, and 3.1 rpg as the lead guard for the Bulls this past season. He’s a guard that looks to get to his spots in the paint and make things happen as a full-time starter.

While he isn’t the greatest 3-point shooter, he makes up for it with his ability to attack the rim, rebound, and make plays for others. With frontcourt guys returning in Nick Ongenda and Javan Johnson, he’ll look to have some better results with the Blue Demons in the Big East.

DePaul will look for better results as well. After an 8-1 start to the 2021-22 season, they finished 15-16 and ninth place in the conference standings.
