Zach Wrightsil, 6’7 Forward/Wing, Marquette Golden Eagles

Zach Wrightsil is a relatively unknown name that’s joining the Marquette Golden Eagles following a highly-decorated career with the Loyola-New Orleans Wolf Pack at the NAIA level. As a senior, he put up 18.7 ppg, 8.8 rpg, 3.6 apg and 2.1 spg on 62 percent shooting from the field in taking home NABC National Player of the Year honors along with NABC All-America, LABC Louisiana Small College Player of the Year, Southern States Athletic Conference Player of the Year and NAIA first-team All-American and first-team All-SSAC.

He’s a prospect that plays with a ton of energy given his ability to get downhill on the break and make plays from the post. He had 12 double-doubles and a triple-double this past season while racking up all his awards. Shaka Smart is back to his old ways in a sense in finding Wrightsil off the NAIA path in order to add him to his rotation with the Golden Eagles.

Smart, after all, has turned around the VCU Rams before with a similar formula of finding diamonds in the rough. He’s found the top NAIA name from a season ago and will look to move the needle more in the Big East with the addition of Wrightsil.
