Big 12 Basketball: Top transfer addition for each team for 2022-23 season
There’s some movement within Big 12 Basketball with the transfer portal. Take a look at the impact players set to make their presence felt in their new threads coming from the transfer portal.
Jalen Bridges, 6’7 Forward, Baylor Bears
Jalen Bridges makes a move to a conference foe in the Baylor Bears with national championship aspirations on his mind following three seasons with the West Virginia Mountaineers. He’s one of two players from the transfer portal that’s looking to make his presence felt elsewhere heading into a new season.
Bridges redshirted back in 2019-20 as a freshman before making his official debut in 2020-21. In 2021-22, he started in all 33 appearances he made with West Virginia, posting 8.4 ppg, 4.8 rpg, and 1.0 spg while shooting 42.8 percent from the floor and 32.5 percent from 3-point range.
In his best overall performance of the year, he went off for 18 points, six rebounds, and five blocks while knocking down 4-of-6 3-pointers and going 6-of-9 from the field against Pittsburgh back on November 11, 2021.
He’s a player that’s capable of playing either forward position with his ability to run the floor and finish in transition, roam the paint as a shot blocker, rebounder and finisher, and create on the perimeter.
Bridges finished eighth in the Big 12 with 66 offensive rebounds and 16th in blocks (22) with the Mountaineers this past season. He does well to use his length to alter shots and finds ways to get on the glass. He’ll be looked upon to drive the Bears’ offensive attack with his experience and a slight change of scenery in 2022-23.
