Tre King, 6’9 Forward, Iowa State Cyclones

Tre King is another versatile forward set to make his impact in the Iowa State Cyclones rotation after quite the journey out of the transfer portal to land in the Big 12. King sat out the 2021-22 season with the Cyclones after moving from Eastern Kentucky. Initially, he was headed to Georgetown in the Big East but moved to Iowa State in December after being dismissed.

King was a two-time All-OVC selection in the Eastern Kentucky rotation from 2019-21, finishing fourth in the conference in points (416), fourth in blocks (34) and sixth in rebounds (174) in 2020-21 before heading to the transfer portal.

As far as averages go, he went for 14.9 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 1.5 spg and 1.2 bpg while shooting 49.1 percent from the floor and 33.9 percent from behind the arc and generated a defensive rating of 93.6 in the lineup in 2020-21.

He’s got the potential to change the Cyclones’ rotation in a major way, especially with the additions of Osun Osunniyi (St. Bonaventure) and Jeremiah Williams (Temple) from the portal. They’ll need some pieces to come together during the offseason to build off last season’s run to the third round of the 2022 NCAA Tournament.
