Kevin McCullar, 6’6 Guard/Wing Kansas Jayhawks

Kevin McCullar is another in-conference mover from the Texas Tech Red Raiders to the Kansas Jayhawks from the transfer portal after three seasons in Lubbock. He’ll move slightly north looking to make his presence felt in Kansas after testing the NBA Draft waters.

McCullar is coming off a 27-10 season with the Red Raiders that saw him post 10.1 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 3.1 apg, and 1.4 spg while shooting 40.2 percent from the floor and 31.1 percent from 3-point range and a loss in the third round of the NCAA Tournament.

He finished fifth in the Big 12 in defensive rating (90.5) and 15th in offensive rating (104.5) as a key cog in the Red Raiders’ backcourt on both ends of the floor this past season. As one of the lone additions from the portal, McCullar hopes his experience as a lead guard and playmaker with the ball in his hands can lead the Jayhawks back to another national title.

There’s a ton to replace for the Jayhawks from last year’s championship squad. One thing’s for sure, Texas Tech Red Raiders fans will have a certain game circled on this year’s Big 12 slate when the Jayhawks and McCullar come to town in 2022-23.
