Big 12 Basketball: Top transfer addition for each team for 2022-23 season
Grant Sherfield, 6’2 Point Guard, Oklahoma Sooners
Grant Sherfield is a name that’s gone under the radar a bit from the transfer portal out of Nevada, falling to head coach Porter Moser and the Oklahoma Sooners. With the departures of Umoja Gibson and Jordan Goldwire, the cupboard is bare in the backcourt, though the addition of Sherfield should fix that a ton.
Sherfield is quite the distributor as evidenced by his 6.4 apg average in 2021-22, a career-high. He also put up 19.1 ppg and 4.2 rpg while shooting 43.5 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from behind the arc with the Wolf Pack. He was the only player in the Division I ranks to average at least 19 points and six assists per game in 2021-22 and ranked fourth in the NCAA with his 6.4 apg mark.
He’s a true floor general that looks to find others in space for scoring opportunities just as much as he does for himself. His offensive rating of 107.4 ranked ninth in the MWC with Nevada as he paced an electrifying attack.
Sherfield didn’t dish out less than three assists in any game in 2021-22. Let’s see if Moser can turn that into their first NCAA Tournament appearance.
