John-Michael Wright, 6’1 Guard, Oklahoma State Cowboys

John-Michael Wright leaves the mid-major ranks of the Big South following another season where he led the conference in scoring with the High Point Panthers. After three seasons with the Panthers, Wright looks to make the leap to Power 5 play as a member of the Oklahoma State Cowboys in the Big 12.

Wright is quite the combo guard joining the Cowboys rotation from the portal. He produced 18.4 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 3.4 apg, and 1.0 spg while going 41 percent from the field and 36.3 percent from 3-point range as a first-team All-Big South performer with High Point this past season. He led the Big South in scoring while finishing eighth in assists and 17th in total steals in 2021-22.

Wright went off for 20+ points in 12 contests this past season in the Big South, including a career-high 34 points this past January on the road against Charleston Southern on 13-of-22 shooting from the field.

He knows how to use his speed and quickness in a variety of ways to create off the bounce and isn’t afraid to get in the paint and snag some rebounds, either. He knocked down a career-high 65 3-pointers in 2021-22 to finish ninth in conference standings. He hopes a jump to the Big 12 can boost his status in the NCAA basketball world.
