Mike Saunders Jr., 6’0 Point Guard, Utah Utes

Mike Saunders Jr. looks to play a more significant backcourt role at the point guard spot in the PAC-12 with the Utah Utes after spending the past two seasons in the AAC with the Cincinnati Bearcats. He’s an emerging point guard with a knack for scoring on all three levels while looking to get others involved.

He was a strong piece in the backcourt off the bench at the lead guard role, where he produced 7.3 ppg, 2.7 apg, and 2.0 rpg on 40 percent shooting from the floor and 35.9 percent from behind the arc in 33 appearances off the bench. He clocked 20.2 minutes of action in finishing with 89 assists (14th in the AAC) as an initiator on offense for the Bearcats this past season.

Now, Saunders has a bigger role on the horizon in the Utes’ backcourt as he looks to fill the void at the floor general spot. He’s one of three transfers from the portal looking to replace a few departures in an all-around squad.

With his untapped potential on offense and the addition of some pieces in the frontcourt, Saunders will look to end his final two years of eligibility with a bang with the Utes in the PAC-12.
