Shaheen Holloway, Seton Hall Pirates

Head coach Shaheen Holloway enters the Big East with quite a 2021-22 run in tow looking to replace Kevin Willard. He’s coming off his first NCAA Tournament appearance that saw him lead the St. Peter’s Peacocks to an improbable Elite Eight appearance, a MAAC Tournament Championship, and a 2020 MAAC Coach of the Year award.

Holloway led the Peacocks to a 64-54 record (.542) from 2018-22 and it’s his only head coaching position before jumping up slightly to Big East play. After a 22-12 year that saw him make history with the Peacocks out of the MAAC, he’s ready to show he can do more in his career already.

After making history for the first time since 2011 in Jersey City, Holloway will move back to his alma mater looking to make more history. The Peacocks were the first-ever 15-seed to reach the Elite Eight and he’s got K.C. Ndefo in tow with him from last year’s squad looking to lead the rebuild.

Ndefo isn’t the only gem out of the transfer portal that Holloway will have at his disposal. They’ll also have Femi Odukale (Pittsburgh), Al-Amir Dawes (Clemson), and Dre Davis (Louisville) alongside three freshmen and four returners from last year’s Pirates squad to work with. They should make some noise this season in the conference with some key pieces returning in 2022-23.
