Sean Miller and Xavier Basketball are on a roll on the recruiting trail, this time landing four-star wing Dailyn Swain. What will he provide to the Musketeers?

Last week, Xavier Basketball got a commitment from Reid Ducharme, a top-100 shooting guard prospect in the 2023 recruiting class. The first commit was four-star point guard Trey Green, mostly taking care of the backcourt. That certainly didn’t mean that the program was done on the trail. In fact, they used the momentum from last week to add to the class even more.

Dailyn Swain is a four-star small forward prospect, with 247sportsComposite having ranked inside the top 100. He’s from Columbus, Ohio, with all of the in-state programs after him. Two of them were among his finalists in Ohio State and Xavier, along with Arkansas, Clemson, and Arizona State. In the end, the feeling was that Swain would stay home, and on Friday, he made his choice for the Musketeers.

It’s another win for Xavier and a future wing to work with. Jerome Hunter, who started 17 games last season, could leave after his senior season, while Colby Jones, who plays a little bit of everywhere, is a pro candidate.

The team also has a pair of four-star freshmen guards/wings playing this upcoming season in Desmond Claude and Kam Craft. So while there’s a new group of players coming in and resetting the roster, it’s not a guarantee that Swain would have a clear role early on once he arrives at campus.

Still, new coach Sean Miller will like the versatility and athleticism that Swain offers could force the team’s hands during his freshmen year. He’s a promising long-term prospect for Xavier Basketball and fits what the team will want to do for the future. Now the question is who’s next for the team in the 2023 class?
