The Irish landed another 2023 recruit on Tuesday when Parker Friedrichsen committed to Notre Dame Basketball. What does he bring to the program?

The Notre Dame Basketball program has had a pretty good last week. Last week the Irish secured a commitment from Brady Dunlap out of California at the forward-wing position. Usually, teams have to wait a little while to get another commitment, but not long for Mike Brey and the rest of the coaching staff.

On Tuesday afternoon, Notre Dame got another commitment as guard Parker Friedrichsen announced he will attend Notre Dame to play for the Fighting Irish.

Friedrichsen is a 6’4 shooting guard out of Oklahoma. The talented shooting guard in Friedrichsen chose Notre Dame over Davidson and Nebraska. The Oklahoma native is rated a four-star from the likes of 247, Rivals, and ESPN. He was previously committed to Oklahoma State early on his high school career but determined that was not the right fit for him.

At Notre Dame Brey has always liked to have guards who can really shoot it and spread the floor. Friedrichsen will fit right in as he is a real sharpshooter from the perimeter. He is not just a shooter from the outside though as he has the athleticism to take it to the rim and beat you off the bounce as well. He also looks to be a player who really can play at either guard position in coach Brey’s system.

He’ll need to get bigger, but that will come when he gets into the training program at Notre Dame when he arrives on campus. Friedrichsen and the other incoming freshman will have the opportunity to play right away as currently a handful of players on the Notre Dame roster will be using their final year of eligibility this upcoming season.

This may be a little bit of a throwback but a player that I see when it comes to Friedrichsen is former Irish sharpshooter Colin Falls. The former Irish player in Falls had a very good career in South Bend. If Friedrichsen comes in and is a similar player to Falls he will have a very nice career for Notre Dame. Plus making a lot of threes along the way as well.

Notre Dame has now put together a recruiting class featuring point guard Markus Burton, Dunlap as mentioned earlier, and now Friedrichsen. According to 247 Sports, the Irish now have the 15th best class in the country.

With a few more scholarships available you have to think the staff now turns to find some more players in the front court moving forward. Let’s see where the class ends up for the Irish overall when it’s all said and done.
