The Big 12 basketball landscape continues to get a lot stronger as they welcome newcomers to the fold out of the transfer portal. With the current landscape, teams are relying heavily on the transfer portal to gain an experience advantage as players move from mid-major and low-major places and move into the high-major ranks.

This offseason, every team in the Big 12 acquired at least one player from the transfer portal as a number of high-profile names move into the fold and look to make a splash in the conference.

A few names on the list surprised the entire world of college sports by entering the transfer portal, but with the landscape of NIL and changes in transfer eligibility rules, it’s opened the door for a bit of intrigue as the transfer portal has become “free agency” of sorts in college basketball.

A new crop of transfers is headed to the Big 12 with a ton of experience under their belt as well as NBA Draft implications with their decisions to move destinations. While some are looking for bigger roles, others are looking for better ways to put their skill set on display as they look to move to the next level. There are even some movers within the conference!

One thing is certain: There are a lot of mid-major names that are set to make their debut in the Big 12 this season, especially when it comes to guards in the backcourt. Take a look at each team’s best acquisition out of the transfer portal heading into 2023-24.
