Creighton Basketball: Projected starting lineup and depth chart for 2023-24 season
Creighton Basketball’s season ended in 2022-23 with a run to the Elite Eight as they surprised many. They were the darlings out of the Big East as a 6-seed as they were a shot away from defeating San Diego State. They’ll look to surprise a lot more folks as they return this season with just two key losses from last year’s squad. There’s no Arthur Kaluma or Ryan Nembhard, but the core of last year’s Baylor Scheierman, Ryan Kalkbrenner, and Trey Alexander are back and looking to make another run in the NCAA Tournament.
Head coach Greg McDermott has a ton of returning talent at his disposal to work with as the Bluejays come off a historic season. They return three of five starters from a season ago and add three players out of the transfer portal that could make an impact right away.
Kalkbrenner, Alexander, and Scheierman could find themselves on top of the Big East once again as they welcome Steven Ashworth (Utah State), Johnathan Lawson (Memphis) and Isaac Traudt (Virginia) to the fold. Ashworth was quite the sharpshooter for Utah State this past season while Lawson has shown he can be a perimeter and playmaking presence off the bench. Traudt emerges as their biggest question mark with a void to fill in the frontcourt.
With the Big East Defensive Player of the Year in Kalkbrenner looking to defend his crown, the Bluejays should enter 2023-24 with a ton of confidence, especially as the conference favorites to win the conference. Take an early look at the projected starting rotation and depth chart for Creighton heading into 2023-24.
