Virginia Basketball won the ACC regular season crown after going 15-5 in the conference as they rolled into the NCAA Tournament this past season. They faltered though in the first round as a 4-seed, dropping their opener against Furman 67-66 and in turn, creating quite the roster change for the Cavaliers.

The Cavaliers return just four players from last year’s squad as they look to maintain their defensive prowess under head coach Tony Bennett, but they’ll also add quite the haul out of the transfer portal as they look to fix their offensive woes. Reece Beekman and Isaac McKneeley will be two key returners looking to boost their backcourt production but fans should expect some new faces to emerge as Virginia looks to get over the hump in their quest for another NCAA title.

Andrew Rohde (St. Thomas), Jacob Groves (Oklahoma), and Jordan Minor (Merrimack) are three names that should emerge in the frontcourt while the addition of Dante Harris (Georgetown) looms huge for the playmaking in the backcourt. Rohde, Groves, and Minor will most likely take on starter roles as they infiltrate the ACC with their abilities. Rohde is a playmaker and shooter on the wing while Groves and Minor are two presences in the painted area with room to grow. Harris missed this past season due to injury but he’s been with the team since January.

With not much production back from last year’s squad, the Cavaliers will rely heavily upon a new cast of faces for success this upcoming season. Take a look at the projected starting rotation and depth chart for UVA heading into the 2023-24 season.
