Point Guard

Starter – Garwey Dual (30 mpg)

Garwey Dual is probably the biggest addition to the Providence rotation as head coach Kim English takes over. He’s an electric 6-foot-5 guard who has the potential for Big East Rookie of the Year honors if he can adjust quickly to the college game. The starting role at shooting guard is his entering a new season given his acumen off the bounce. He posted 16.0 ppg, 7.0 apg and 3.0 spg at Southern California Academy in his final year of high school basketball.

He’ll be looked upon to make things happen off the ball in Year 1 with veterans around him who can handle the ball. Don’t be surprised though if he showcases his playmaking ability as he looks to raise his stock in the 2024 NBA Draft as a potential lottery pick.

Bench – Jayden Pierre (10 mpg)

There’s not much pressure on Jayden Pierre just yet to play a ton of minutes at the backup point guard role but he’ll have opportunities to show off what he can do. He put up 2.5 ppg, 1.9 apg and 1.0 rpg on 54.5 percent (12-for-22) from deep this past season. He’s a wiry point guard who also knows how to operate on both ends of the floor as he enters his second season in the Big East.
