Tennessee Basketball continues to grow as a national presence on the college basketball stage. They earned themselves a No. 4 seed in last year’s NCAA Tournament in the East and now, with seven returners and a few new additions out of the transfer portal, they’ll look to return once again to the March Madness festivities and all that it brings.

Head coach Rick Barnes led the Volunteers to an appearance in the Sweet 16 this past season and with a good core of players returning, there’s potential to go further this upcoming season. Josiah-Jordan James, Santiago Vescovi, Zakai Zeigler, Jonas Aidoo, Jahmai Mashack and Tobe Awaka are all names who should contribute to what should be a deep Tennessee rotation in 2023-24.

James, Vescovi and Zeigler should all have things on lock in the backcourt while Gainey and Knecht should fit in nicely with their gameplan given their prowess as threats on the perimeter and on the rebounding front. The biggest question mark will be the frontcourt and whether Aidoo and Awaka are prepared to play big minutes in the ever-talented SEC. The trio certainly has the experience under their belt, but as opportunities grow, their production will need to match.

The additions of Jordan Gainey (USC Upstate) and Dalton Knecht (Northern Colorado) should give Tennessee an opportunity to really push the envelope with some newfound firepower on the wing. College basketball is almost back as the final week of September approaches! Take a look at the projected starting rotation and depth chart for Tennesee heading into 2023-24.
