Center/Forward

Starter – Michael Nwoko

Michael Nwoko joins the Hurricanes out of Prolific Prep looking to make his presence felt at the starting center role. He’ll be a new face in college basketball after posting 12.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg and 1.0 rpg in his final season of high school basketball. The center role is where things could get interesting for the Miami Hurricanes.

There’s not much depth in the frontcourt with just Norchad Omier, Matthew Cleveland and Michael Nwoko as their available options. Nwoko won’t be on a short leash so to speak, but he’ll need to be able to show he can hold his own in his debut season or things could get interesting for them in the frontcourt. They could move to a smaller rotation by the season’s end with Omier moving to the 5-spot if things don’t work out with Nwoko.

Bench – Norchad Omier

Norchad Omier could find himself playing the defensive anchor role and should act as a backup center when needed this season. He’s capable of holding his own in the painted area as evidenced by his production in 2022-23.

He’ll be a bit undersized at 6-foot-7 but he’ll make up for his lack of size with his energy and effort in the painted area and defensively. There’s room for him to grow as a versatile presence in the rotation alongside Matthew Cleveland.
