Ohio State Basketball: Projected starting lineup and depth chart for 2023-24
Point Guard
Starter – Bruce Thornton
Bruce Thornton returns for Year 2 in the Buckeyes backcourt looking for greater success in the win column. He returns as their top leading scorer after posting 10.6 ppg, 2.7 rpg and 2.6 apg on 37.5 percent from deep and 45.6 percent shooting from the field in his freshman debut. He’s a strong-minded guard at 6-foot-2 who’s shown he can hold his own on both ends of the floor in the Big Ten already. He ranked 17th in offensive rating (113.7) and 20th in assists (92) this past season while running the show for the Buckeyes offense. He’ll look to increase his production on all fronts entering his sophomore season.
Bench – Dale Bonner
Dale Bonner joins Ohio State in the Big Ten after spending the past two seasons at Baylor in the Big 12. He was a solid reserve for the Bears with 4.7 ppg, 2.7 apg, 1.4 spg and 1.2 rpg on 37.2 percent shooting from deep and 44.1 percent shooting from the field this past season. He’ll look to fill the void at backup point guard with a similar reserve role on the table for him as a graduate transfer.
