Big 12 Basketball: Preseason conference power rankings for 2023-24 season
Big 12 Basketball was another conference that saw success in the NCAA Tournament this past season. The Kansas State Wildcats and Texas Longhorns made it the furthest with both falling in the Elite Eight this past March. Now, with some high-profile names joining the conference, the potential looms for another squad from the conference to make a run in the tournament.
Seven teams from the conference made the NCAA Tournament this past season, including the West Virginia Mountaineers, but things could look a lot different for the conference heading into a new season.
The transfer portal has certainly given teams a new outlook on roster building, adding big names from other conferences to the fold in the Big 12. The Jayhawks now boast the services of former Michigan big man Hunter Dickinson. Former Oral Roberts standout Max Abmas is now a member of the Texas Longhorns. Former Syracuse big man Jesse Edwards is now a member of the Mountaineers.
With all of the movement, one thing’s for sure: The conference should be as competitive as ever after this past year saw the Jayhawks win the regular season title while the Longhorns won the conference tournament title and an automatic bid for the conference.
This year, they’ll add the UCF Knights, Houston Cougars, BYU Cougars and Cincinnati Bearcats to an already competitive field. Did any of these teams crack the Top 5 of the preseason power rankings? Take a look as we preview the 2023-24 college basketball season with the Big 12 preseason power rankings.
