Trent Perry is one of the top West Coast prospects in the 2024 recruiting class. And USC Basketball was the team able to land his commitment.

Once again, Duke and Kentucky reign supreme when it comes to the recruiting trail, each with the top classes for the 2023 cycle. This time around, the 3rd place winner was USC Basketball, who had four top-100 commits. That includes Isaiah Collier, the No. 1 overall incoming freshman, according to 247sports.

Assuming that Collier is a “one and done” player and leading scorer Boogie Ellis moves on via eligibility, the Trojans’ backcourt will need a new core in the future. They also have four-star freshman Bronny James Jr. but he’s still not cleared after suffering a heart issue.

The good news for the Pac-12 program is that they were able to get a key guard in the 2024 class, their second commitment.

Trent Perry is a 6’4 ball-handler from California. He’s a consensus four-star prospect, ranked in the top-60 overall, according to 247sportsComposite. His size and passing ability makes him someone that can be impactful on both ends of the court. Perry was viewed as one of the best western-based prospects in the entire class and had several other teams in pursuit, including Stanford, Gonzaga, Oregon, and Colorado.

In the end, the Trojans were able to get a key ball-handler to ramp up its 2024 class. He joins Liam Campbell, a four-star shooting guard commit. Considering how young the collective frontcourt is, look for the program to try and get a wing or another ball-handler to add to the group.

Perry is a key local pickup for the program and gives them backcourt depth for the future. And if they’re out on five-star target Zoom Diallo, USC Basketball won’t have to scramble for the rest of the 2024 class going forward.
